I have a primary teaching background before joining the University of Canterbury to lecture in ICT in Education and Professional Studies. I am now working as a facilitator in schools.
I have known Drew for some years now and I always admire his passion for getting the best out of his pupils. Despite his dodgy camera work he comes over with a lot of truths concerning ePortfolios. However, like many, I feel that his arguments weaken once he introduces a VLE-based ePortfolio such as Mahara.
As I have argued for many years, if the ePortfolio is to be truly learner-owned, and therefore portable, it must be hosted independently of any institution.
I address the issues of 'transition' several times on my own blog at: http://efoliointheuk.blogspot.com/2009/02/when-do-we-start-with-e-portfolio.html
